 Visual Arts Program

What’s been happening in Visual Art in Term Two?

What a super term of Visual Arts it has been so far! The students should be very proud of the amazing artworks they have created. I am delighted to see our four school values consistently demonstrated by the students during their sessions in the art room, particularly ‘Resilience’ when things don’t go quite as planned!

With a focus on Painting and Collage for the first part of the term, the JLC, MLC and SLC used different tools and techniques to paint a variety of flowers and stencilled hearts, whilst the FLC created a stunning flower picture, using a range of collage materials. All students showed their artistic talents whilst making beautiful ‘Mother’s & Other’s Day’ gifts, which we hope you all enjoyed receiving.

Recently, we have continued to explore Painting and have been experimenting with various tools and materials to make our work more creative and interesting.

The FLC & JLC have made fantastic pictures with crayon-resist techniques and paint-wash and enjoyed mixing liquid paint to create new colours.

The MLC & SLC have used famous paintings by Van Gogh, such as ‘Sunflowers’ and ‘Starry Night’, as inspiration for their own wonderful painted artworks. The SLC have also created Abstract paintings after viewing and discussing works by Kandinsky.

Next, we will all be working on some exciting Textile art projects that is sure to be loads of fun.

Keep up the brilliant artwork everyone!
