Snapshots from Springvale Campus
Winter is upon us and as the days get colder, more students are seen choosing to spend their lunchbreak inside, enjoying one of the activities on offer including knitting, colouring, art, board games, Lego and dancing. It is so great to see students enjoy each other’s company, learn new skills and form new friendships in this way. A big thank you to all the wonderful teachers who generously run these clubs at lunchtimes.
Back in the classrooms the magic of learning continues to happen. From mastering mathematical concepts to practising reading and exploring the latest inquiry topic, our amazing students and dedicated teachers work tirelessly to keep achieving the next learning goals. There is nothing more special than having a beaming student come up to me to share their latest achievement. It is always a highlight of my day!
A reminder to all the families about staying safe when crossing roads. The streets around our school are very busy, especially around drop off and pick up time, and it is very important that we all do our bit to keep each other safe and avoid accidents, no matter in how much hurry we might be. Please ensure that you:
- Use the designated crossings.
- Follow the Crossing Supervisors’ instructions.
- Always walk when crossing a road.
- Take extra care when driving around pick up/drop off time.
Did you know that the Crossing Supervisors are provided by the City of Greater Dandenong Council and are specially trained according to VIC Roads guidelines. Here are our lovely Crossing Supervisors Carol and Geraldine.
Make sure you say hello and thank them for helping to keep us safe next time you see them.
Next week From Sunday 16 to Saturday 22 June, we celebrate Refugee Week. This year’s theme “Finding Freedom” focuses on family and emphasises the crucial role they play in providing support and a sense of belonging to those forced to flee their homelands. Whether it’s the unwavering support of parents, the protective love between siblings, or the communal strength found in extended and chosen families, neighbours and support systems. Throughout the week students will engage in different learning experiences around this theme and explore the stories of refugees through picture books and guest speaker talks.
Last but not least we would like to say Eid Mubarak to all the families who observe Eid al-Adha next week. We hope you have a lovely time celebrating with your family and friends.
Keep warm and stay safe!
Mrs Mirela Karup
Acting Assistant Principal
