Year 12s
This a busy and challenging term for our Year 12 cohort. The end of secondary schooling is only a few months away, but there is still so much to complete before reaching the finish line. We encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with your teachers and school network; we are here to help and support you.
Year 11s
We hope you are all having a fabulous time touring the amazing North-West of our state and we look forward to welcoming you back to the classroom in Week 3.
Year 12 students will be busy this term learning about social protest movements and a range of protest texts, including those from Martin Luther King and Greta Thunberg. This will conclude with students writing speeches of their own on a topical issue of their choice. And as we end the term, they will be creating presentations or tutorial videos teaching their peers how to conduct a real-world task.
Year 12 ATAR students are concluding their study of Maus this term but will remain focused on many of the topics and issues raised as they study their next text, The Island. Finally, we will return to composing tasks before preparing for the final examinations.
Year 11 students start the term writing essays on current world issues. These include the future of farming, regenerative farming, and climate change. Their focus will shift to persuasive writing where they will work in groups to pitch product ideas, create multi-modal persuasive texts, and study a range of persuasive texts.
Year 11 ATAR students begin their study of the Australian modern classic, Jasper Jones this term. The novel has been adapted for theatre and film and should provide many opportunities for discussions and debates. This will be followed by a study of the film Mystery Road.
