Music

The Winter Concert this year was a wonderful celebration of student music at BHS, with some stellar performances by both individuals and ensembles. The Band Captains Abbie, Abby, Heechan and Chris ran the program with great professionalism in their first major public speaking role, and really demonstrated why they were voted by their peers for these leadership positions. Events like the Winter Concert don’t happen without enormous goodwill and effort by our extended ‘music family’, whether the cheery hardworking volunteers in our Music Support Group, the wonderful Vincent and Darren who quietly support the music team in so many ways, the always amazing Pat Consedine on the sound desk, and of course the music teachers who inspire and support our students to achieve great things.

Thank you one and all for helping to create a wonderful experience for our music students!

Singit Stars

SingIt stars, and musicians Zoe, Morgan and Leo performed at the recent Year 9/10 Drama night, and it was fabulous to see their enthusiasm and skill shine on stage. Many thanks to Ashleigh Hunter for her hard work preparing backing tracks for SingitStars, and other music items. Let’s hope there’ll be more of these collaborations in the Performing Arts!

Nadine’s Vocal Night

Nadine Joy and her students put on a wonderful Concert in the Band room last Thursday evening, sharing songs, and even inviting the audience to join the fun, with a whole room sing along to start and finish the evening. It’s always great to hear just what our singing students can do, and how much Nadine nurtures and supports the wonderful singers in our school. Congratulations to all!

Tunes on Thursday

Tunes on Thursday (or any day really!) grows in diversity and participants every week, and it’s fabulous to see so many Year 7 students performing in front of their peers so confidently. Many thanks to Emma Moffat for the energy she’s putting into building momentum for this performance opportunity for our students!
