5/6 News

What a term it has been!  We have had an action packed final two weeks with sporting events and our final Inquiry showcase. Students have shown great sportsmanship and respect at all events. Their resilience to be at school while all being tired and exhausted after these events and a long term has been amazing.

Senior Citizens

On Wednesday, the 19th of June, Summer, Amber, Kaylee and Scarlett went to Senior Citizens. Summer was excited to go because she likes to help out. Amber felt happy because she saw all the people that go there to have lunch and desert and to play bingo. The girls were amazing and served about 20 people.

Winter Sports

Netball

Hi my name is Hannah and I’m Amber we are going to tell you about the 5/6 Winter sports. We had the choice to play netball, soccer, tag footy, basketball and euroball. We chose netball. It was a long day but we got through it. All the 5/6s went on one bus to Kyabram. Our first game was at 10:30am. It was cold when we first got there but it soon warmed up as we stared running around. The day was all about making friends and having fun. Hannah played wing attack, goal attack and centre over the day. She loved playing wing attack. Amber played goal attack, wing attack, wing defence, goal defence, goal shooter, centre and goal keeper. She loved playing goals, wing attack and centre. The teams were made up with at lease two Tonny kids put together with other kids from other schools. Towards the end of the day it stared raining so we all had to go under cover and sadly we did not get the finish the day.  We had to wait for the bus to arrive to come and pick us up. As the day went on we got more tired as we played. When we got back to school we got some free time as we had an amazing day. Then Mrs Pridham cut us some oranges so we could get our energy back up. Thank you to Mrs Pridham, Josh, Mrs Holyman, Brett and all the schools that participated.

Soccer:

On Thursday, 20th of June we headed over to Kyabram for Winter sports. Ricky, Kane and I played soccer. Ricky and I were on a team. First round we had a bye. When it was our time to shine we won the first game 2-0, our way. Our second game we won again 7-0. Ricky kicked two goals and I Kicked two goals as well. We ended up winning 6 games, drawing 3 and the last game got cancelled because of the rain. I ended up kicking three goals by the end of the day.

European handball:

European handball is a fun game that I played at the Northern Oval in Kyabram. I won 1 and lost the rest. We played in teams of 6, it's a mix of soccer, basketball, footy and netball. It was very wet and muggy, I made a couple of new mates. We played a lot of games against a lot of teams, it was a hard day and very different compared to other sports.

5/6 General News and Reminders

We are running low on grey leads, glue sticks and scissors in our classrooms. We would really appreciate if students could bring in some more of these supplies if they don't have them.

Please encourage your child to wear school uniform, including their school jumpers as the Grade 5/6 students are the leaders of our school and set an example for the rest of the school. We discourage footy shorts and casual jumpers, students will be asked to remove casual jumpers and replace one with lost property unless a class teacher is notified with a reason.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful and safe Winter break and we look forward to seeing our students back on Monday 15th July for another amazing term.
