Inquiry Showcase
What a fantastic celebration of our learning this term! 3/4's had the opportunity to display their campaign for their chosen endangered animal. Developing their campaign was woven into all areas of learning. In Writing, students developed their non fiction narrative, in Maths a map of their animals habitat was created, in art dioramas were made of their habitats and then posters to save their animal were created during Inquiry. Thank you to all friends and families who were able to visit our showcase on Monday!
Our school wide Inquiry focus for next term is 'Social Justice'. 3/4's will be taking a closer look at being in someone else's shoes by imaging how they would feel and act if they were in their shoes. Students will have the opportunity to look at different organisations and aids that support people with disabilities, research a disability, understand what it's like to live with a disability and how we can make rules and laws fair for everyone. It will be a very exciting and eye-opening unit, one that we believe will help students to understand how to advocate for people in their community who live with a disability.
E-smart session
It was great having Craig from eSmart Schools visit our school. Craig read the the story "Oh, No! Hacked Again," which assisted students to learn about SMART online actions to help them stay safe. They also explored the implications of a digital footprint and discovered how to create strong passwords to protect themselves online.
If you would like to understand more about current online safety challenges, please head to the eSafety Commissioner link below. There is also a great section under 'Parental Controls' on how you can change settings on devices to minimise access to harmful content, managing time spent online and who your child communicates with.
Lions Club Public speaking Competition
Earlier this week we had some brave 3/4 students step out of their comfort zones and compete in the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. Students had the opportunity to speak about their favourite fairytale or book character. Congratulations to Lana who is off to the next round!
We hope everyone enjoys a much needed break after of lots of illness and a long term. We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and rested in term 3.
Happy holidays!
