From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

A warm welcome back to school (in the middle of winter), ready for Term 3. The school holidays provided a change to household routines, which is much needed after a full and active Term 2.

Term 3 and Wet Weather

This week as we return, the forecast weather wet weather will mean that it is likely that students will spend some recess and lunch times indoors with a Wet Day supervision arrangement.  This means that students may not get the usual opportunities for outdoor physical exercise and activity.  During these times when we have consecutive days of wet day indoor play, classroom teachers will try to look for other opportunities for students to get some physical outside play during other parts of the day, where possible.

From time to time, students may be given “spare” uniform garments due to falling and getting muddy or dirty during recess and lunch. We ask that families send the spare garments back to school as soon as possible so that we have enough for future needs.

The school is always open to receiving second-hand uniform donations to restock our incidental uniform garment supplies.  Please get in touch with the school office if you would like to donate items.

Year-Level Term Newsletters

This week, you will receive a year-level Term newsletter for each student outlining key reminders and information for the Term ahead. Please keep an eye out for this in your inbox and contact your child’s classroom teacher or school office if you have any questions.

Term 3 School Hats

At the end of the last week of  Term 2, classroom teachers directed students to take home their school hats for washing and cleaning.  As we begin Term 3 all school hats are to remain decoration and stickers free (except for the occasional affirmation\encouragement sticker).  This will go some way to solving the issues of littering and social interruption that was been caused by the extensive decorating of school hats last Term.  Thank you for your continued support.

St Simon’s Socials

Stay connected with our school through Facebook and Instagram.  Regular posts about what’s happening in our school will continue this Term.  We are very grateful for the skills and attention to detail our staff members, Taylah Paull and Michael Fitzsimmons, give to our social channels.  We also appreciate our staff social media team, which collects and collates content (photos and videos) so that we can share these with our school community.

Sacrament of Confirmation - Year 6

In the coming weeks, many of our Year 6 students will be receiving the Sacrament Confirmation.  We continue to keep our Year 6 students and their families in our thoughts and prayers.

NAIDOC Week 2024

Over the next two weeks, St Simon’s will celebrate NAIDOC Week 2024 with a range of activities and experiences. Click here for more information!
