Principal's Piece

It may sound strange, but August is the month in which we begin to focus on planning and preparing 2024. A significant part of this journey involves perspective families coming to the College to attend their enrolment interviews. One of the questions that we ask in these meetings is, “How did you find out about the College?”. While the answer to this question varies, the majority of perspective families find out about the College because of contact with and existing family – by word of mouth.

The simple truth is, that YOU, our current parents significantly influence who seeks enrolment at the College. It is YOU, our current families who shape our student community.

My encouragement to you is to keep up the great work you are doing!

As we look to 2024, there are still places available for Christian and non-Christian families at the College. My invitation is that you continue to look for families who you think would be a great addition to our College and invite them to check the College out. You might find them at church, the local footy club or families in your workplace. Wherever you come across a perspective family don’t miss the opportunity to share your experiences of the College and recommend us to them.

Blessings,

Mr Andrew Manning

Principal

Parent Conferences

This week, Parent-Teacher (Primary) and Parent-Student-Teacher (Secondary) were held at the College. If you unable to attend or missed booking with your child's teacher, please feel welcome to send the teacher an email and make a time to connect.

Since lock-downs and remote learning we have used a combination of in-person and online conferences. Some initial feedback has highlighted the need to review the balance, with more families requesting in-person conferences. A survey will be sent out next week to gather feedback on the best way to plan for conferences in 2024. Your time to respond to the survey to inform decision-making is appreciated.

Staffing Update

Due to health concerns, Mr Stephen Trouse will be replaced by Mr Peter Woodbridge for the remainder of the term.  Mr Trouse will continue to support the College as a casual teacher.

My Christian School Website

Bayside Christian College values the genuine faith of its staff. However, the Australian Law Reform Commission has released a consultation paper which would prevent schools like ours from choosing staff for their active lived faith.  My Christian Schools website has been launched in association with the Australian Association of Christian Schools because it's time they heard from some actual parents—like you! If you value the contribution of Christian staff and teachers, this is your opportunity to have your voice heard. Please visit the website and send a message to your MP about the difference Christian teachers and staff make in our school.

Blessings,

Mrs Toni Steinbergs

DeputyPrincipal
