Synthesise:
To take prior knowledge and compare it to new knowledge learned in order to create a new understanding.
Explanation text:
A text that explains something. They might tell you how or why something happens, or give information on how to do something.
Prior knowledge:
What I already know about a topic.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask your child what they already know about ‘How planes fly.’ Ask them to have a discussion with other family members or family friends and analyse what new information they found out and how this changed their thinking.
