Ringwood Level Crossing Removal
We’re removing the dangerous and congested level crossings at Bedford Road, Ringwood and Dublin Road, Ringwood East and building a brand-new Ringwood East Station.
Students, parents, and school staff will need to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time while these works take place.
Pedestrian level crossing and road closure at Dublin Road, Ringwood East
From Tuesday 5 September to Tuesday 17 October, our crews will work around the clock to build the new Dublin Road bridge at the level crossing.
During this time:
- the eastern level crossing at Dublin Road will be temporarily closed. Students, parents, and school staff will need to use the pedestrian level crossing, east of Ringwood East Station, to access Ringwood East Station or to travel between Patterson Street and Railway Avenue. Please note the western pedestrian level crossing will remain closed until 2024.
- Dublin Road will be closed at the level crossing. Detours are available for road users via Mount Dandenong Road, Maroondah Highway, Bedford Road, Canterbury Road and Bayswater Road.
Changes to PTV bus services
There will also be changes to PTV 679 and 380 bus stops, near Bedford Road, including:
Buses replace trains on sections of the Belgrave and Lilydale lines
Please also note, that buses will replace trains between Blackburn, Belgrave and Lilydale from 12.30am Saturday 9 September to last service Sunday 10 September. For more information visit ptv.vic.gov.au.
Helping students navigate disruptions
We know how important it is for your school to navigate these works and there are several ways we’ll help students, parents/guardians and staff get to and from school safely, including:
- Clear, signed pedestrian pathways around construction zones, particularly where these zones are near schools
- Traffic management crews on site to safely direct traffic and monitor congestion
- School updates, such as this email, to provide information that can be used in school communication channels to parents and guardians
- Opportunities for students to get involved in the project through learning activities and career talks
- Clear, advanced notice of disruptions online, via email and SMS, and in local letterboxes.
We’re also available to hold meetings with parents/guardians at schools to go through these pedestrian access changes and bus stop relocations in more detail.
