Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

It would be hard not to know, but Thursday September 7 is our whole school production.

We are super excited about showcasing each grade's performance over the course of the night, and students have been madly rehearsing, making props, learning song lyrics and choreographing dance routines. It is shaping up as an absolute show-stopper for everyone concerned.

With all the buzz and excitement, there may be some unanswered questions from parents, so I am using this week's newsletter as a FAQ of the event.

Q: Are all students involved?

A: Yes. Every single student is part of their grade's performance on the night, and each have been part of rehearsals.

Q: I've heard they need a black skivvy for the event. Is that correct?

A: Yes. If possible, we ask that all students wear a black skivvy or a long-sleeve black top as the basis for their costume. After the event, they can use this as part of their school uniform so it won't go to waste.  If you need assistance with this, please ask at the office.

Q: Will the students have a chance to rehearse at the venue?

A: Yes.  During the school day on the 7th of September, all students will travel by bus to the venue and spend the day rehearsing ready for the evening. You will have received a XUNO event request seeking your consent for this.

Q: Do students go to the venue straight after school?

A: No. At the end of the school day on September 7, the students will go home, have dinner, change and then parents will bring them to the venue to be signed in by their teacher between 5:30 and 6pm.

Q: Can I leave my child at the venue on the night?

A: No. It is an expectation that each child's parent, or a responsible adult, be at the venue throughout the evening supporting all of the students.  This is not a 'drop-off and leave event.

Q: Can I buy tickets for family and friends?

A: Of course.  Simply log onto to the Eventbrite link here and purchase as many tickets as you and your family require. The more the merrier!

Q: I may need help purchasing tickets. Is that okay?

A: Of course. Some families need help with Eventbrite, some can only pay in cash and others are finding finances an issue. All of these, and other issues, can be solved at the front office. The most important thing is that everyone has a great time and we all support our students/ your children.

Q: Can I take my child home after their performance?

A: You are free to do as you see appropriate, however we kindly ask that all audience members and students stay until the end of the event to support the other students yet to perform. We want the last performance of the night to be as special as the first, and all in between.

Q: My children will be tired the following day.  Can they sleep in?

A: With your permission, yes. Before school care and school itself will start at the same times they always do. However,  school council agreed that with parental approval, students can arrive at school the following day up until 11am allowing them to sleep in. Classes during that morning will consist of low key, catch-up type activities so if you allow your child to sleep in, they won't miss out on any crucial learning opportunities.

I hope this has answered most of your questions.  If there are more, please speak with your child's teacher or come up to the office and I am sure we can assist you there.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
