Book Week 2023

Over the last week we held a range of activities to celebrate Book Week 2023. Students and staff participated in games, puzzles, competitions and paraded in their favourite book character costumes.

There were so many wonderful and creative costumes and many thanks go to the families who encouraged and supported this event.

NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge

Book week also marks the end of the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge. Each year students from all over NSW and Australia can enter the challenge by reading 20+ books over 7 months. We had 250 students from K-6 who will be receiving either a gold or challenge completion certificate signed by the NSW Premier later this year. This is the highest number of students to receive certificates so far and we congratulate everyone who took part.

Author visit

Recently, our Stage 2 and Year 5 students attended an author visit from Katrina Nannestad, who has written many middle grade fiction books and popular series. Katrina shared stories on how she became a writer and her journey as a children’s author. Several students volunteered to dress up and become characters from a few of her books. They acted out the scenes while she narrated parts of the story. Many interesting questions were posed by the students who were keen to know more about her and her books.
