Wellbeing

Dear parents and students,

As we approach the end of Term 3, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the importance of wellbeing. This term has been challenging for many of us, and it is essential that we take care of ourselves and each other.

On Thursday 14th September, we will be acknowledging RUOK Day. This day is a reminder to check in on our friends, family, and colleagues and ask the simple yet powerful question, "Are you okay?". It is a day to raise awareness about mental health and encourage meaningful conversations around mental well-being.

To take care of your own wellbeing, it is important to prioritise self-care. This includes taking care of your body, mind, and spirit. Eating a well-balanced and nutritious diet, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly are all important aspects of physical self-care. Mind self-care includes activities such as meditation, mindfulness, and engaging in hobbies that bring you joy. Spiritual self-care involves connecting with your values and beliefs, and finding meaning and purpose in your life. Spring holidays are often a time when you can engage with these self-care routines.

It is also important to look out for the wellbeing of your friends. If you notice changes in their everyday habits, such as socialising less or not participating in activities they usually enjoy, it may be a sign that they are struggling. Extend an invitation to hang out or participate in activities together, and offer practical support such as picking up food or helping with schoolwork. Remember to take care of yourself while supporting your friends.

As we move towards the end of Term 3, I encourage you all to take care of yourselves and each other. Remember to reach out if you need support, and don't be afraid to ask for help. It can be hard to stand up and face your fears, but we can all help each other to be brave and strong together as we tackle the chaotic world around us.
