Student Leadership
Philosophy Camp
Last week, a group of students from Years 8-10 attended a Philosophy Camp in Melbourne. The camp provided students with an opportunity to engage in high-level philosophical thinking and discussions with students from other schools in Victoria. Students engaged in philosophical discussions at the University of Melbourne on Wednesday evening as part of a Philosophy in Public Spaces evening. These discussions were held in mixed-schools groups with several other schools. The following day, just the Edenhope College students went to Melbourne Museum to explore the geology, forestry, Melbourne Story, First Nations, and Road to Zero exhibits. We the attended a 3rd year Philosophy Lecture at the University of Melbourne, and had a tour of the University. Students were particularly interested in the agriculture department and the uni, which included a showcase of preserved biological specimens. Students then had time to do some shopping at Melbourne Central before we headed to a nice group dinner. After dinner, we took a late-night stroll through the city with ice-creams in hand. We walked from Flinders Street, down past the Arts Centre, along the Yarra River up to the Exhibition Centre before we tucked into our hotel for the night. And in all of this activity, our passionate netballers still managed to fit some rooftop netball training in at the hotel. Thanks to all the students and parents for making it possible (especially the last-minute call ups), and a special thank you to Amy & Edith for accompanying us on camp.
