Term 3 Claymation Projects

Grade 3 and 4 students have been busy this term working through the production process to make their Claymation videos. 

Students started with the development stage where they learnt how Claymation works and evaluated some professional Claymation clips based on a set criteria. They then entered pre-production where they planned their movie using a story board and prepared their play doh shapes. 

Students used Stop Motion Studio when they entered the production stage to take photos of their shapes moving (little by little) on their backdrop. This painstakingly slow process tested their ability to collaborate with each other and to show patience and perseverance! Students could have continued with the production stage for much longer, but being on a deadline meant we had to enter post-production. This involved recording or selecting sound effects, and adding text to show the title and credits. The final stage of the production process was distribution where students got to enjoy watching each other’s clips, and again evaluating how each other went against the set criteria.
