ART ROOM ADVENTURES

Term Wrap-Up
With one week left in the term, the art room has been buzzing with creativity as students explored, experimented, and expressed their ideas through a variety of projects.
Foundation:
Our youngest artists have been celebrating diversity through art inspired by cultures around the world. They created Thai-inspired elephants using mixed media, Chinese lanterns exploring colour and pattern, African Kente Cloths using repetition and geometric shapes, and French pointillist Eiffel Towers inspired by Georges Seurat. Each project encouraged curiosity, imagination, and experimentation.
Years 1 & 2:
Year 1 and 2 students brought their classroom inquiry on light and dark to life by designing shadow puppet theatres and characters, bringing their stories onto the stage through silhouettes. Recently, they explored Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers, experimenting with brushstrokes, colour, and composition to create vibrant mixed-media collages.
Years 3 & 4:
This term, Years 3 and 4 artists discovered the excitement of monoprinting. They created a series of prints using watercolour, paint, and oil pastel, learning that each result is unique. For their oil pastel monoprints, they drew inspiration from the work of Yayoi Kusama, exploring bold patterns, dots, and vibrant colours. To finish the term, they also took on the “Mystery Box Challenge,” transforming unexpected items into imaginative artworks. This encouraged problem-solving, risk-taking, and plenty of creative fun!
Years 5 & 6:
Our senior students have been working together on a large-scale production project for next term’s Three Little Pigs showcase. They have been busy designing costumes, props, and sets, as well as promotional materials. From sewing and painting to construction and problem-solving, the art room has been alive with creativity and collaboration. We can’t wait to see their hard work come together on stage next term!
