Year 9 Visual Arts - Still Life Painting
This term, Year 9 Visual Arts students have been immersed in a Still Life unit of work. They have been developing their technical painting skills with a focus on colour mixing, painting techniques and mark making. Students have been challenged to step outside of their comfort zones, experimenting with new approaches and pushing themselves to take creative risks.
Although at times this has been challenging for some, students have enjoyed the freedom to explore, experiment and move beyond a single style. This openness has allowed them to “let loose” in their artmaking, encouraging play, discovery and confidence in their abilities. These valuable experiences are helping students to shape and strengthen their own unique artistic practices.
Year 8 Visual Arts - Ceramic Car Sculptures
Year 8 Visual Arts students have been working hard this term in completing their ceramic car sculptures. Throughout the project, they have developed important skills in design, clay construction and painting. Students embraced the sculptural process, learning how to shape, build and decorate their works with creativity and care.
The project has given students the opportunity to explore the possibilities of clay as a medium, while also developing patience, problem-solving and craftsmanship. Most importantly, they have enjoyed the hands-on experience of bringing their car designs to life and are proud of the unique artworks they have created.
