Marella Mission Reflection Walk

On Thursday, 12th September, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students proudly represented their culture by assisting with the Marella Mission Reflection Walk at Kellyville Public School. As part of this meaningful event, these students led a series of engaging activities that introduced primary students to traditional Yulunga Indigenous games.

Through the spirit of sharing and teaching, students showed their younger peers how to play games such as Brambahl, Nanyima, Tha’an, and Gitja—each with deep cultural significance and roots in traditional Indigenous practices. These activities provided an opportunity for students to connect with and better understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.

The event also held special significance due to its connection to the local history of the Marella Mission Farm, which operated in Kellyville from the 1950s until 1978. Marella was originally established as a home for Aboriginal children, many of whom were removed from their families as part of government policies of the time. Remembering this history is essential in acknowledging past injustices and understanding the ongoing impact on communities today. The Reflection Walk offered an opportunity for respectful remembrance, as well as a space to celebrate resilience, identity, and culture.

The day was a celebration of learning, respect, and cultural exchange—fostering a stronger sense of community and reconciliation within the school environment.

Culture Connect Day Celebration

Soana and Kapoiolani proudly represented our school at Sydney’s Culture Connect Day, hosted by the Go Foundation at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence.

The day began with a powerful Welcome and Smoking Ceremony, followed by hands-on cultural workshops including fire-making and leadership development. Students also engaged in inspiring conversations with representatives from Career Trackers, USYD, and TAFE, and enjoyed a shared BBQ lunch with fellow participants.

It was a memorable day of culture, connection, and learning—and we’re incredibly proud of Soana and Kapoiolani for embracing the experience with such enthusiasm and pride.

KHS Shines at the [EX]plore Science Conference

Our Year 12 Science Extension students proudly represented Kellyville High School at the recent [EX]plore Conference.

Suubi and Dhruv showcased their research during the poster sessions, while Druvika took to the stage to present her project to the entire conference with confidence and clarity.

Throughout the day, students connected with university researchers, toured science labs, and gained valuable insight into the world of scientific research beyond school.

We’re incredibly proud of their achievements and the way they represented KHS with curiosity, professionalism, and passion.

Year 12: Laughs, Legacy & Lasting Memories

As the Class of 2025 prepares to graduate, Kellyville High School has been buzzing with energy, emotion, and unforgettable moments. The past fortnight has seen our Year 12 students embrace every opportunity to celebrate their final days with flair, friendship, and fun.

Shirt Signing & Uniform Swaps: The campus was alive with colour and chaos as students swapped uniforms, scribbled heartfelt messages on each other’s shirts, and turned everyday wear into memory-filled keepsakes. Laughter echoed through the halls as Year 12s made their mark—literally and figuratively.

SLR Fishing Trip: Our Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation students wrapped up the year with a sun-soaked fishing adventure on the Central Coast. With rods in hand and smiles on faces, they reeled in a 47cm flathead and a boatload of memories. It was the perfect blend of relaxation and skill-building to close out their studies.

Dodgeball Showdown: Year 12 vs Teachers: In a match for the ages, Year 12s faced off against staff in a dodgeball battle that was equal parts athleticism and theatrics. With dance moves, dramatic dodges, and epic take-downs, both sides brought their A-game. The result? A hilarious, high-energy spectacle that united the school in cheers.

Throwback Afternoon:Before the caps and gowns, Year 12s revisited their childhood with sack races, tug-of-war, basketball and more. It wasn’t just about games—it was a celebration of growth, friendship, and the journey from playground to graduation stage.

Farewell, Class of 2025

To our graduating Year 12s: thank you for the laughter, leadership, and legacy you leave behind. As you step into the next chapter, may your future be as bold and brilliant as the memories you’ve made here. Go confidently, and know you’ll always have a home at Kellyville High School.

Dearest Year 12,

As I stand here today as your Deputy for the first five years of high school and at your final assembly, I want to take a moment with you to look back over the last six years. Together, you have travelled through a journey full of highs and lows, challenges and achievements, moments of joy and moments of difficulty. And in all of this, you’ve created memories—some that you will hold onto with great pride and others that you’ll laugh about years from now.

High school has not been a straight path. There have been times of stress, long nights of study, changing friendships, and moments where you doubted yourselves. But there have also been times of triumph—whether it was on the sporting field, on stage, in the classroom, or in your own personal growth. Each of these experiences, the good and the hard, have shaped you into the people you are today.

What I hope you take away is that you should be proud. Proud of the way you’ve stuck it out, proud of the resilience you’ve shown, and proud of the community you’ve built together. Not every day was perfect, but every day added to your story.

This next chapter of your life is waiting for you. But before you rush into it, I encourage you to enjoy this moment. Look around at your friends, your teachers, the people who have been alongside you for this journey. Celebrate what you’ve achieved together.

On behalf of the school, I want to say how much we have valued having you as part of our community. As you step forward, know that you take with you not just knowledge and skills, but memories, connections, and a sense of belonging that will stay with you always.

Congratulations, Year 12—you’ve made it. Be proud, be grateful, and most of all, enjoy this time.
