DSPS | Glow Up | Holiday Maintenance Program

DSPS is undergoing a well-deserved maintenance Glow Up.
A carpenter, painter, plumber, electrician, cleaner, sign writer, welder and candle stick maker will be onsite over the holidays working on myriads of projects.
"Project Carpet" Phase 2 | Replacing tired, worn carpets.
Phase 2 of "Project Carpet" begins at 2.31pm today , when removalists arrive to empty 4 classrooms. 1/2K, 1/2 S, 1/2B and Foundation will receive new carpet during the first week of the holidays.
The 1/2S classroom is running a 'Guess what colour pencil is stuck under the carpet' (A mystery that transcended generations of students in this classroom'). Personally, I'm hoping for a nugget of gold ! Eureka!
All will be revealed when they cut open the carpet this afternoon.
Students will be greeted with fresh carpets when they return from holidays.
Phase 1 was completed during the final weeks of Term 3, with the Foyer, Specialty Staff Office and Library receiving new carpet.
The Library | Refresh.
The Library has received new carpet and a fresh coat of paint.
But wait, there’s MORE…
- The Great Wall of 3/4M. An internal wall will be built along the hallway to enclose the classroom to improve insulation (sound/warmth) and increase room layout options.
- Replacement Blinds. To Foundation, Office, SLC and 5/6B (Residence building - big windows).
- Replacement Water Bubblers. Old bubblers will be replaced with new troughs and tapware. 2 troughs to the main area, 1 to back of SLC.
- Classroom Whiteboards installed to those in need of replacement.
- Jubilee Gate signage facing Dana Street will be repaired.
But wait, there’s STILL MORE…
- All playground artwork will be repainted during Term 4 (when weather permits)
Removal of old, vandalized school signage and replaced with clear signage.
These maintenance projects are funded via the Maintenance & Minor Works funds provided by the Department of Education. These funds are allocated each year with the expectation schools undertake proactive maintenance of their buildings.
For those playing along at home, more BEFORE and AFTER Glow Up photos will be shared in Term 4 newsletters.
