2026 Student Leadership retreat
Last week, the elected school leaders for 2026, had the privilege of attending the annual leadership retreat. It was more than just a trip; it was a profound journey that challenged our perceptions and brought us closer together as a team and as individuals, all within the guiding spirit of our EREA Touchstones.
We went in with ideas about what leadership might be, and we returned with a much deeper, more meaningful understanding rooted in Justice and Solidarity. We learned that true leadership is not about a title or a badge, but about service and standing alongside others. This lesson was powerfully brought to life during our liturgy, where we participated in a ceremony of washing one another's feet. This humble act was a poignant reminder that to lead is to serve, to support, to uplift, and to walk in solidarity with others with empathy and grace. It was in that moment that the concept of a ‘servant leader’ moved from a phrase in a handbook to a genuine commitment in our hearts.
This new understanding directly inspired our planning for the year ahead. In our portfolio groups, we began developing initiatives to positively impact every facet of college life, ensuring our actions promote inclusivity and justice. The College Captains focused on whole-school spirit and communication; our House Captains brainstormed ways to boost participation and belonging; the Wellbeing Prefects designed strategies to support mental health for all; and the Cultural Prefects planned events to celebrate our diverse community. Meanwhile, the Mission and Identity team reflected on how to deepen our faith in action, and the Academic Prefects devised ways to champion scholarship and peer support, ensuring equity in learning.
Beyond the lessons, we formed incredible bonds. Through shared activities, honest conversations, and these planning sessions, we built the foundation of trust and friendship that is essential for our team to thrive. We also explored our spiritual identities, finding strength and clarity in times of shared prayer and quiet gratitude. We gave thanks for the opportunity ahead of us and left feeling truly connected to each other and to the community we are so excited to serve in solidarity.
We are returning to school energised, united, and ready to work with the entire college community to make the 2026 school year one of connection, positivity, and purpose.

New Social Media Laws for under 16s
Many parents would be aware of changes being implemented by the Australian government in response to growing global concerns about online harm on major social media platforms. By the end of this year, these platforms will need to have age-verification measures to restrict access for users under 16 from accessing these platforms.
Without preparation, teens risk losing access access to connections, content, or communities they love, with little notice.
