MCC Tech Services – Griffith City Library

On Wednesday, August 27, we held our monthly MCC Tech Classes, providing a free service to local seniors at the Griffith City Library.

Our student volunteers were Anna (Zi) (Year 11), Sofiya (Year 7), and Stella (Year 8), who assisted seniors. It was Sofiya’s and Anna’s first time attending the MCC Tech class, and both, along with Stella, delivered exceptionally well.

Paul attended for the second time, and students were able to meet his IT needs, leaving him satisfied not only with the assistance provided but also with the opportunity to learn. With the students’ support, he successfully learned how to delete apps from his mobile phone navigating from the settings menu.

Our anonymous senior walked in feeling frantic and puzzled over her mobile device. The students guided her step-by-step on how to add new contacts, understand what an email address is, and receive notifications when messages arrive. This was her first visit to MCC Tech Services, and she was so grateful for the students’ assistance that she offered them chocolates as thanks.

She shared that her granddaughter attends Marian and was excited to surprise her with a “good luck” message for her exams. She was deeply touched by the compassionate service our school provides to the community, describing it as much-needed in our town. She looks forward to returning to continue learning.

Our next MCC Tech Services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, from 10:00–11:00 AM at the Griffith City Library

The Leeton Eisteddfod

The Leeton Eisteddfod was held at the Roxy Theatre on Sunday 10th August, 2025.  Five students from Marian Catholic College performed with the Griffith Combined Schools Band.

The band won both under 18s categories and earned the Molly Watts Encouragement Award.

Congratulations to Mark Channa (yr 11, trumpet), Annabelle Channa (yr 10, flute), Czaree Rosales (yr 9, flute), Kyle Manaois (yr 8, bass guitar) and Melandie Van der Merwe (yr 7, clarinet).  The students performed eight musical pieces, with Mark conducting the band for one of the pieces.
