Principal's Message

2025 School Theme - Why Team, Why Team Westbreen

Principal’s Message

Dear Westbreen PS Families,

Another week has come and gone, and we are in the final week of Term 3. It has been a phenomenal term for all members of Team Westbreen, and we have so many things to celebrate. I wanted to take the time to thank all members of the community who have been a part of the many events we have had this term as they do not happen without you. I also want to thank all staff and students for the level of effort and dedication that you all give every day. I know everyone will enjoy a much-deserved break and will come back ready to continue learning in Term 4. Enjoy the holidays, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday the 6th of October.

School Values & Policies

With the end of the term approaching, it is a great opportunity to have a conversation about our school values to ensure we have a strong and positive finish to Term 3. Partnerships between school and home is what makes Westbreen such a positive environment and we know we will not be as successful without it. As a school we consistently explore the values in our Respectful Relationships program which ensures our students know how to show our values throughout each day.

The school values are:

- Respect

- Responsibility

- Achievement

- Care and Compassion

- Cooperation

Planning week

In Weeks 8-9, our staff will be engaged in planning sessions within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to develop key learning progressions for Term 3 in Literacy, Numeracy, Inquiry, and Wellbeing. During this planning day, teams from across the school will create learning tasks that address the targeted needs of students in these curriculum areas for the upcoming term. As a result, your child's specialist classes may differ from their usual schedule during Week 9 and will be held all on one day.

Healesville Excursion

On Friday the 12th of September, we had the foundation students go to Healesville Sanctuary. It was wonderful to see all the students get on the bus full of excitement and have such a great experience with their peers. The students represented Westbreen extremely well and modelled our school values to perfection. We are so proud of all the staff and students who attended.

Important Reminder: Planning for 2026

This is just a reminder that parents can access the school enrolment form on the Westbreen Primary School website (westbreenps.vic.edu.au). During opening hours, they can also visit the school office to collect a 2026 enrolment form or speak with Mrs. Kerry, our Community & Enrolments Officer. We encourage all future enrolments to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. This includes current WPS students with siblings who will attend their first year of primary school next year.

 “Keep Safe Online”

Thank you to all the families and staff that attended our parent information session on Monday the 16th of September. It was an outstanding session that provided a large amount of information regarding online safety. I also want to mention the 5/6 team and Georgie for their work organizing such a great event and for the coordination of the student sessions occurring this week.

Last Day of Term

Just a reminder that we will be finishing school at 2:15pm on Friday as it is the last day of term. Students will still be getting their break at 11:45-12:30 to play outside, but not the 2:10-2:25 as school will finish an hour early.

I wish everyone a safe and restful break. I encourage you all to take this time to recharge, spend quality tome with loved ones and return refreshed for a strong finish to the year in Term 4.
