Our school values of wisdom, grace and service shape every learning journey. Advancing gender equality in STEM isn’t just about fairness, it fuels creativity, resilience and stronger teams equipped to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
Year 11 student Zara Jones exemplifies this mission. As the sole girl in her Computer Science class, she has channelled her Future Female Leaders Program experience into passion and advocacy for women in STEM. Zara now hosts Lead Like Me, a storytelling podcast spotlighting female engineers and technologists who challenge norms and inspire the next generation. Through candid conversations and real-world insights, her episodes celebrate diverse journeys, break down barriers and invite listeners to envision themselves in STEM roles. These pictures show Zara being recognised at a gala dinner last week for her Future Female Leaders program achievements.
Research shows gender-balanced teams deliver more innovative solutions and adapt more swiftly to change. Inclusive learning environments translate to equitable workplaces, a finding underscored in OECD’s Trends Shaping Education 2025 report.
St George’s continues to champion initiatives rooted in our values: supporting and advocating for scholarship pathways for young women in STEM, hands-on workshops led by female industry experts, and platforms like Zara’s podcast that amplify student voices. By supporting projects such as Lead Like Me, we’re equipping students to build a workforce where every perspective accelerates progress.
St George’s challenges every student to step beyond their comfort zone, explore subjects that ignite their passion, and embrace the learning journey ahead. Whether you’re drawn to coding, design, literature, or science, choosing the subjects you love builds confidence and skills that will sustain you. Our dedicated staff and initiatives are here to support you every step of the way. We have your back as you turn curiosity into capability and prepare to contribute your unique perspective to tomorrow’s workforce.
