Awesome apple crumble!

This week’s recipe is a family favourite – Apple Crumble. It’s warm, sweet, and best of all – easy enough for the whole family to prepare together, especially when on school holidays.

This recipe uses pantry staples and seasonal apples to create a dessert that feels both nostalgic and timeless. The apple filling is lightly spiced with cinnamon and lemon juice for a fresh zing, while the golden crumble topping combines oats, brown sugar, and butter to achieve that perfect balance of crunchy and soft. As it bakes, the house fills with the inviting aroma of cinnamon and baked apples, making it hard to resist peeking into the oven before it’s ready.

Apple crumble is versatile – you can make it in advance, reheat it as needed, and even experiment with additions like berries, pears, or a sprinkle of nutmeg.

For the perfect finish, serve it warm, straight from the oven, with a generous scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. The contrast of hot crumble and cold ice cream makes this dessert a family favourite every time and the students have loved making it in their Food tech classes.
