Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As the warmer days of November embrace us, I extend a warm greeting to our vibrant school community. It's hard to believe how quickly the year has unfolded, and as we approach the final stretch of 2023, we pause to reflect and celebrate the accomplishments and growth within our school.

Step Up

For the final weeks of the school year, we have decided that all year levels will 'Step Up' to their new classrooms on the following dates:

Tuesday 12th December: 9:30 - 11:00 am

Monday 18th December: 9:15 - 11:00 am

Tuesday 19th December: 9:15 - 11:00 am.

Transition to the next grade level is important for students as it helps to relay fear and anxiety about the 'unknown'. Where possible, all teachers will be with their new classes in their new rooms on the transition days. This initiative will help students to ease into the new year with greater predictability and confidence. It will be essential that all students are in attendance right up until the end of the year.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day

The Epsom community never lets our students down. Grandparents and Special Friends turned out in droves with a game in one hand and a plate of afternoon tea in the other.

Thank you to every family who contributed to this lovely afternoon - the smile on the student's faces said it all.

Canteen

The canteen is receiving a deep clean ready for our official inspection next week. Our new canteen manager, Anthea, is very excited about creating healthy and creative lunch options for our school community. Watch this space...

Digital Noticeboard

In the next month or two you will notice a huge digital screen on the brick wall facing the main courtyard. We are hoping to post reminders about the school week, weather information and upcoming events. We aim to continually revise our communication so that it meets the needs of all in our school community.

Uniform - Bike Pants

Please note that bike pants are not a part of the school uniform. Some students have been wearing tight running pants that are now so short that they cannot be seen with their t-shirt. This is not appropriate school clothing and I ask that all parents support the integrity of our uniform by checking what students are wearing before they leave home in the morning. We now have some spare uniform items that students will be asked to wear in this situation. Black microfibre shorts and skorts (with bike pants underneath) can be purchased from the uniform shop in town.

New 2024 staff

I would like to congratulate the following classroom teachers in their appointment to our school:

Daniel Palmer

Charlotte Aburrow

Amber Gruenhaeuser

Jemma McDougall

Book Fair

Thank you to all of the families that supported the book fair in the library. Over $3 700 of books have been sold over the past two weeks!!! It will be exciting to  all of the new books that will adorn our library shelves thanks to this generosity.

EBT

Good luck to our EBT team for the big race next week! The organisation and dedication by our staff and students this year has been second to none.

Have a wonderful weekend and I thank you for your ongoing support.

Kind regards,

Julie Ladd
