News from the Learning Community

Prep Learning Community

Our Prep students have been expanding their number fluency by participating in daily maths fluency activities. Students are practising targeted maths games that support their current focus skill. Many students in Prep are working on subitising, counting, and addition and subtraction. Our Prep students love hands-on learning in Math.

Year 1 Learning Community

In Year 1, we have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. Students have been exploring how to present their learning through the use of Ipads. We have created wonderful stop motion videos to present to the class. Enjoy!

Year 5 Learning Community

In Year 5, we have been inspired by reading some amazing books. We have been trying to find a range of different books that we can get lost in and that we don’t want to put down. Here are some students sharing some books they have enjoyed reading.

Secondary Students Work Experience

Sending a huge congratulations to our Senior Secondary students on their successful work experience and structured workplace learning ventures this past term. The students have put their best feet forward. I was in awe at the dedication, professionalism, commitment, growth, and resilience displayed when I visited the students in their workplaces. We have begun building powerful relationships with the local community to support our Senior Secondary cohort in their future pathways. Some of the wonderful experiences our students ventured off to were; local letterbox drops for Armstrong Real Estate, working at the Cockatoo Café, exploring the different departments at Woolworths Geelong West, engaging with a local building company getting their hands dirty, a family owned bakery, film and media, screen printing and animal handling with Neurodiversity Victoria. The learning has been invaluable for our students. Thank you to all our Senior Secondary families for supporting and liaising with me to engage your adolescents in building solid foundations for their future. A few students have decided to get their resumes and cover letters organised to apply for part time employment!! The team and I couldn’t be more proud of all the accomplishments that 2023 has displayed and look forward to 2024 adventures.
