MacKillop House

Captains' Report 

This year we moved into our new MacKillop Centre. This has provided a fresh start and a place where we can meet as a House and celebrate our achievements. Our Tutors have spent time decorating the new building and personalizing each space. During our tutor time we have enjoyed such activities as footy tipping, trivia, games, team building activities and competitions. 

It was great to see our Year 12 peers dressing up and celebrating Inter-House Competitions and although we didn’t take home any shields we saw a near victory in the House dodgeball competition. Participation has been a key goal for MacKillop House and we have seen an improvement in how many students have joined in as the year has gone on. 

MacKillop gathered to celebrate our Feast Day in honour of Mary MacKillop. This provided us all with an opportunity to gather and reflect on House values, spiritual connection through a House Liturgy and enjoy doughnuts.

Our wellbeing and pastoral lessons have provided us with an opportunity to bring everyone together and raise awareness about important issues such as bullying and child safety. We have also built upon character strengths.

Year 7 students enjoyed getting to know one another at Koonawarra campsite and had many fun activities including canoeing, tree surfing, rock climbing, and the zipline. The Year 9s also had an opportunity for amazing surfing and water activities on their camp.

We have celebrated peoples’ accomplishments in extra-curricular activities. Noa Fogarty has been an active part in performing arts and acting in community plays with the Warragul Arts Centre. Lani Vilcins also demonstrated bravery and resilience when she took part in the Kakoda trail. We also recently celebrated Chloe’s win at the Equestrian Inter-School Nationals. We are proud of all these accomplishments.

We are excited to see what the future ahead holds for next year, Go MacKillop!
