Good afternoon OLSC families   

WORLD TEACHERS DAY - Friday 27th October, 2023 

Thanks to all of our teaching staff for the care and dedication to our community.  On behalf of the community of OLSC we that you for your work.  

STUDENT HEALTH REMINDER - Increasing COVID Cases 

In the last week we have had some reported cases of COVID from families.  I remind all families the importance of testing if unwell to avoid spreading this virus.  Unfortunately schools are no longer provieded with tests that can be distributed to our families, however I have been assured that free testing packs are availabble from the council.  

We ask that parents take precautions in spreading this and to keep students home if they are at all unwell.  With what seems like a state wide spike in numbers extra vigiliance is required to safeguard the community.  

ARE YOU PLANNING ON NOT RETURNING IN 2024

We currently have a waiting list for students wanting to enrol at OLSC.  If your family is moving house next year and students will not be returning to OLSC please let the office know as soon as possible.  There has been an overwhelming number of people seeking enrolment especially in the 3/4 area.  

EVACUATION DRILL 

As part of our compliance and Emergency Management Plan and protocols, we have a planned evacuation drill on Monday 30th November. This will be explained to the students beforehand and will be conducted in a calm manner.  In the event there are any parents or visitors onsite they will be required to be part of the drill.  

SCHOOL HATS 

It is that time of the year again.  Please help your child / children find their school hat. In Term 4 all students are required to wear a hat when outside.  New and replacement hats are available from the school office.  

SCHOOL UNIFORM

The 2023 Uniform shop hours are set out below.  

Mondays: 11.00 am - 1.00 pm

Tuesdays: 8.30 am - 3.15 pm

Wednesdays: 11.00 am - 1.00 pm

Thursdays: 8.30 am - 3.15 pm

Online orders are available by setting up an account.  For families that have not yet set up an account you can do so by clicking on the link below and following the propmts.

Online orders are sent home twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.  If you know what items and sizes you need, you are also welcome to call and order over the phone.

If you require a uniform fitting, please call 9974 8500 and speak to Beck or Chrissy about booking in for an appointment.

OLSC School Disco and Picnic  

Last Friday (20th October) we had our school disco and picnic.  I sincerely thank everyone who was able to make it to this event.  It was a very successful evening and at times the dance floor looked very hectic!  Thanks to the Parent and Friends group for organising this and for all the parents and staff that volunteered to help.   

Prep Village Cinema Excursion  

The students from Prep attended the cinemas on Wednesday 18th October. I have been told fun was had by all although a 600ml water bottle is not a good idea as staff spend most the movie taking students tot he toilet.  Lesson learnt!

LC1 and LC2 Mass   

Today the prep students and the senior students celebrated a mass at school.  Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents that were able to attend.  A special shout out to John Dini for planning the mass.

Evacuation Drill - Monday 30th October 

This is not a surprise drill and will be explained to students prior to allay any concerns.  

Yr 3/4 Excursion to ACMI (Australian Centre for Moving Image)  

The students from Year 3/4 will attending ACMI on Tuesday 31st October.  Let John know if you are able to help as a couple of parent volunteers have needed to cancel.  

Parents and Friends Committee Meeting   

Please join us on Friday 3rd November at 9:00am for a meeting.  We will be planning events and dates for 2024.  All welcome and encouraged to come along.  

Whole School Assembly   

Please join us on Friday 3rd November at 2:15pm for our mid term whole school assembly. 

Melbourne Cup Long Weekend   

School will be closed on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th November for the Melbounre Cup long weekend.  I hope everyone gets a break from the alarm clock!!
