World Teachers Day

Tomorrow is world Teachers Day. On behalf of our students and families I would like to say a huge thankyou for the support and guidance our teachers provide our students each and every day! THANK YOU

Grade 5/6 Camp

Final preparations are underway for our Grade 5/6 Camp to Queenscliff next week. The group will spend Monday to Thursday at 'Cottage by the Sea' where they will have the opportunity  to potentially visit the beach and many local attractions, such as the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre, Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and Jirrahlinga Koala & Wildlife Sanctuary.  The program place strong emphasis on co-operation, teamwork and respect for self, others and the environment.

Good Luck

Next Wednesday Orly Cuttriss will travel to Melbourne to compete against the best in Victoria at State Athletic championships at Lakeside stadium. We wish Orly the best of luck for his 800m event and  hope he enjoys this amazing experience.

School Grounds - Tree Audit

Each year the school undergoes an audit to assess the health of the trees in the yard for safety purposes. Recently this audit identified two trees which need to be removed. This work will occur next Wednesday the 1st November. The surrounding area will be cordoned off but will not cause any other interruption to our school day or student learning.

Undercover court Surface

On Tuesday night at our school council meeting, we discussed the state of the undercover court. Unfortunately the lines and paint were wearing off before the flood and it is now desperate for attention. School Council is currently looking at the best options and sources to quote for its repair.

Pupil free Day - Monday 6th November

Each year staff are provided with 2 Professional practice days to catch up on planning, assessment, professional learning, administration tasks or visit other schools. The first one is chosen by each teacher individually and on the second day students are not required at school and is approved by school council. To cause the least disruption we will hold this day on the Monday 6th, the day before Melbourne Cup day.

Attendance and Assessment                                                                                                                   In the coming weeks, as well as continuing with their teaching programs, staff are reviewing and assessing student’s performance and consolidating their learning in many areas of the curriculum. There are a range of scheduled assessments pertaining to reading, writing and numeracy which all students will be participating in. To ensure your child has the opportunity to be the best they can be it is important for your child to-

1. Be at school every day possible

2. Be well rested

3. Be at school on time after a healthy breakfast.

Arriving and leaving school during the school day

A reminder to parents to sign the book at the office if your child is late to school or leaving before the end of the day. Thank you to those parents who call, send a note or log on to XUNO regarding their child’s absence. This helps ensure our records are up to date and correct. Our overall attendance has improved this year thanks to the increased efforts from home and school.

Sun Smart- Term 4

Thank you to our families for ensuring our students are wearing a blue school hat. This means all students are out and about during the breaks enjoying the great weather. (A friendly reminder that caps or coloured hats are not part of our uniform).
