Scholastic Book Club Issue 8

The catalogues for Issue 8 have gone home this week. This is the last Book Club for the year! The date to get orders in by is 22nd November. Orders can be done via LOOP at Scholastic Book Club website or by sending the order in to school and handing in at the College Office. There are some terrific ideas for Christmas presents. Check out the online version: https://issuu.com/scholastic_australia/docs/bc_8-23_issuu?fr=xPf81NTU

Orders can be labelled as a gift so that we keep them aside for you to collect, rather than send them home with students.

End of the Year and Stocktake

The end of the 2023 school year is approaching quickly now. The next month is a great time to hunt for those books which might have come home during the year and not made their way back to the Library. We are preparing for stocktake where we match the books on the shelf with our computer records. This works best when all the books are returned from students. We really appreciate your help checking in with your children and helping them to return all their books by the end of Week 10 (1st December). Where’s Wally might visit again this year and post updates about how many books we are still hunting each week.

Lessons in the Library

For the last two weeks, students have been preparing a book response by making a creative piece. Foundation to Year 2 have made decorated cakes after listening to a book called Pocket Treasure by Wendy Surety and their own take on a decorated insect after the story Craft Roach by Rachel Burke. The Years 3/4 students have made watercolour paintings in response to a book called I can see Nature’s Rainbow. In Years 5 and 6, students have finished their planning and have started writing their short stories about a topic which interests them. We are looking forward to reading these very soon.
