A note from Mrs Whitechurch

As we move towards 2024, we remember that relationships for children with their peers are so important. This week we have asked students to think about their learning partners and the qualities of a great friend in and out of the classroom.

When children have strong relationships with their peers, they develop a sense of connection and belonging. It also supports the development of their self-esteem.

Friendships help to develop important life skills like getting along with others, compromising, and solving disagreements or problems.

Parents often worry about their child’s friendships. Which friendships should be encouraged, and which friendships may need some distance.

The Raising Children Network has some great information about these questions and more.

Below are links to the Raising Children Network and an article that discusses school-age friendships, why it’s good to get to know your child’s friends, how to help your child make friends and keep friends and what to do when your child is having friendship trouble.

If you have further questions about your child’s friendships at school, don’t’ hesitate to contact your child’s teacher to make an appointment.
