Year 2 Update
Our Learning - Term 4, Weeks 7 & 8
Reading: Students will explore and look at a range of different reading comprehension strategies to help them understand what they are reading.
Writing: Classes have finished off their persuasive block of writing and moved on to enhancing students skills with publishing. Students will be given the opportunity to publish their writing by handwriting or typing using Microsoft word on the ipads.
Maths: Students will explore Place Value System, having opportunities to expand on their knowledge of rounding, expanding and breaking down numbers.
Inquiry: Students have blown their teachers away with their building and creativity when making their sustainable class town. Our expo is going to be next Thursday 28th November.
We will first invite families to come in and see their master pieces before other members of the school come around to have a look.

Here is a little bit of an insight about what the day is about.
Golden Valley's Adventure Camp is located on the Mornington Peninsula, in Flinders. Approximately a 1 hour drive from Hillsmeade PS. Our Year 2 students will experience a day of Camp, without the overnight aspect.
Students will participate in a range of outdoor activities, providing challenges & working on teamwork strategies. These may include Flying Fox, Ropes Course, Team Challenges & Sports. Students leave feeling encouraged, empowered and ready to face challenges with a greater confidence and belief in who they are!
News and Reminders:
Curriculum Day: Wednesday 27th of November (Students - No School)
Hats: Hats are now compulsory. Please make sure your child has a hat with their name clearly written on it each day.
Library books and borrowing: Each week or fortnight, classes visit the library and we encourage our students to borrow a book. At the moment, we have most students borrowing, which is great to see!
Home Reading: We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
