Thank you to our community - Battery Blitz competition
A huge thank you to all of the families that got involved in the City of Casey Battery Blitz - these batteries have now been sent off for recycling through the council.
We will find out if our school was the lucky winner on November 25th - either way the planet is the real winner!!
We will still be collecting AAA, AA, C & D batteries for recycling at HPS - send them in a sealed bag with your child and they can be dropped to the STEM room.
Batteries cannot go into ANY curb side bins and must be specially recycled.
Eco ideas this festive season
As we approach the end of year celebration season it is time to think about ways to reduce the waste. Christmas can be very wasteful from the wrapping paper which is not recyclable to the Christmas crackers and excess food.
Here are some Eco Tips from Clean Up Australia - watch out for further tips and ideas in the coming newsletters.
1. Avoid lights or use LED in your decorations to reduce your energy use for the season
2. Send E-cards instead of traditional cards to save paper
3. Use recycled wrapping paper or make your own
4. Make your own eco friendly decorations inspired by nature using branches, fallen leaves etc.
5. Don’t put unwanted gifts in the bin! Donate them or pass them on to another friend
6.Compost your leftovers or make a worm farm
7. Buy eco friendly gifts or donate instead of buying
8. Choose local and organic when it comes to food
9. Put out a separate bin for recyclables while entertaining
10. Get a live potted tree you can keep year round!
