Message from P - 6 Assistant Principal Billy Barnes

Dear Kyabram P-12 College Families,

As we approach the end of Term 4, there’s a lot happening across our college to wrap up the year and prepare for a successful 2025. Here’s a summary of the exciting events and updates:

2025 Flying Start Program

Years 8-12 Flying Start

Our 2025 Flying Start Program for students moving into Years 8-12 began on Monday, 25 November, and will conclude on Friday, 6 December. This program has been extremely successful, with students actively engaging in their new subjects, teachers, and timetables for next year. Flying Start is an essential part of our transition program, helping students settle into their routines and start building positive momentum for the year ahead.

Year 7 Flying Start: Monday, 9th – Friday, 13th December

In Week 10, our 2025 Year 7 Flying Start Program will take place, welcoming our current Year 6 students into the secondary school setting. This week is designed to support their transition into secondary school by introducing them to new routines, environments, and expectations.

Year 3/4 Kookaburra Camp

Our Year 3/4 students enjoyed a fantastic time at Kookaburra Camp this week. The camp provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore the outdoors, build resilience, and strengthen relationships with their peers and teachers. These experiences are not only fun but also invaluable in fostering personal growth and teamwork.

ACHPER Funding Success

We are thrilled to announce that our college has secured over $27,000 in funding through ACHPER (Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation). This funding will be used to enhance our facilities and resources, including:

- Line marking for sports activities.

- Basketball court upgrades.

- Football goal posts with protective padding.

- Installation of 9-square courts for down ball.

- Brain break kits and staff training.

- Healthy food upgrades for our canteen.

A huge thank you to Carmen Nicholson and Kaitlyn Souter for their hard work in coordinating this incredible initiative. Work will take place over the holidays, ensuring everything is ready for students to enjoy in 2025!

State-Wide Orientation Day

On Tuesday, 10th December, our Prep to Year 5 students will participate in the state-wide orientation day. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to experience their 2025 classrooms and spend the day with their new teachers and classmates, ensuring a smooth transition into the new school year.

We are delighted to invite families to celebrate these important milestones in Week 10.
