Time, Seasons and Weather
Term Four brings exploration of signs related to the time such as days of the week, time markers; yesterday, tomorrow, today and now. In addition, across Foundation to Year 6, all students are learning signs to discuss the seasons and weather.
These last few weeks of Term Four have been filled with new learning for the Foundation, Year One and Year two students. We explored the concept of time, telling the time and how this translated to signing the time in Auslan. This topic had a lot of scope for students to learn this concept at their own level and provide an avenue for students that wanted to tackle more complex time structures through extension activities.
Foundation
The foundation students signed to each other what time they had on their clock, using their knowledge of sign numbers that they learnt during the year.

Year Two
Time
Year Two students were able to explore o'clock and half past time signs. Many also signed times with minutes such as ten minutes past two o'clock we say, and can sign 2.10.
Question signs F-2
The foundation students were introduced to question signs whilst Years One and Two revised these signs from last year. This included games such as 'What's the time Mr Wolf?', that incorporated their new 'time' signs as well as 'question' signs, pac man, fruit salad and various bingo games.
Our final week!
Revision games, festive signs, puzzles, lego building to revise colour, and finger spelling challenges!

Year Two
Thank you to all of the Foundation , Year One and Year Two students. It has been an amazing year of learning and I am so proud of the work that all of the students have put in. They have demonstrated dedication, focus and engagement in learning a new language and have a developing understanding of Deaf Community and Culture. I know the Year Two students will enjoy their next step up into Year 3/4 with new learning and all of the interesting projects that Ms Stjerne (Ms S.) plans for 2025.
In the Three/Four classroom we have been finalising our learning about dates and moving into Christmas celebrations. Working in pairs the students have been signing to each other how to colour in their holiday pictures. This has been a successful activity for learning descriptive signs and colours to embed their sign knowledge.
As a final exercise we have been doing Eye-Spy pictures with lots of different objects for them to sign and find. How many things can you find?
To all the Three/Four students it has been a wonderful year teaching you and I look forward to the New Year.
In the Five/Six classes we have been completing our work on weather and finishing off with a whole country weather forecast with signs, symbols and degrees for all capital cities in Australia.
As the year comes to the end we have been learning signs about Christmas and the holidays. sharing them with each other in various activities. The color activities were very enjoyable across the senior area.
To all the Year Six students. Thank you for making my first year teaching one that I won't forget. Good luck for everything you do in your bright and fruitful futures.
To all the Year Five students. I look forward to see you become the leaders of our wonderful school and hope that your holidays are delightful.
