House Captain Wrap

Over the last few weeks, we have had two events take place. Both our Level 34 and 56 Future Stars Hooptime teams competed at the state carnival. We are so proud of each and everyone of you for the efforts you put in on the day.

We hope everyone has a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing everyone back in Term One 2025.

Curriculum Update

Foundation:

Over the past few weeks, the Foundation students revisited their throwing unit from back in Term One as well as some team building games. The students went back to practising their underarm and overarm throw techniques.

This was achieved through stationed activities around the gymnasium. These stations also provided the students with the opportunity to work on their throwing accuracy as there were set targets to throw towards. It was great to see the knowledge the students had retained from back in Term One.

During the team building lesson the students utilised Hula Hoops to work their cooperation skills.. The students practised picking the Hula Hoops up and placing it in front of their partner to jump in. They had to see how quickly they could do this to the half way line and back.

Year One/Two:

Over the past few weeks, the Level 1 students revisited their throwing unit from back in Term One.

The students also completed a lesson which involved the sport AFL. The children practised some of the fundamental skills involved with the game such has Handballing and Kicking. This was achieved with a partner through the session.

Over the past few weeks, the Level Two students have completed three different lessons. The first lesson involved the sport AFL. The children practised some of the fundamental skills involved with the game such has Handballing and Kicking. This was achieved with a partner through the session.

The second lesson focused on striking and the sport Hockey. The students played a game of indoor hockey. It was great to also watch them work cooperatively with their team members.

And the last lesson saw the students practise the fitness testing they will complete next year as grade three students e.g. The Beep Test.

Year Three/Four:

Over the last few weeks, the Level 34 students have completed both a session on Netball and a free choice lesson which the class voted on.

The Netball sessions focused on developing and understanding and executing the core skills involved with the game e.g. Overhead pass, catching and movement. Once the students demonstrated competency in these areas, we moved to playing a modified match to provide the students with the opportunity to apply these skills. It was great to watch their confidence grow and the teamwork that was on display.

The free choice lesson the students chose was Bombardment. This game focused on team cooperation, throwing, catching and accuracy.

Year Five/Six:

Over the last few weeks, the Level 56 students have completed both a session on Netball and a free choice lesson which the class voted on.

The free choice game the students chose was Yoshi. This came focuses on team cooperation, strategy and movement.

Level 34 & 56 State Hooptime

OnThursday 5th December our Level 34 students participated in the State Hooptime carnival. To make it down to the last thirty-two schools from five hundred and fifty-one is an amazing achievement in itself. The team displayed some tremendous basketball over the day. At the conclusion of the event we placed 9th overall as we just felt short in our round of 16 game. As a school, we are so proud of each and every one of you.

OnFriday 6th December our Level 56 students participated in the State Hooptime carnival. To make it down to the last thirty-two schools from seven hundred and seventy-two is an amazing achievement in itself.

Unfortunately we went down by ten points in our semi final to the team who went on to win the day. Fortunately we had the chance to playoff in a Bronze Medal game. To the students' credit, they still approached this game with the upmost professionalism and were rewarded with an overtime win to be crowned Bronze Medallists. To finish 3rd in the State is phenomenal effort and we are so proud of you all.

Inflatable Sports Day

On Thursday 19th December, we hosted our whole school Inflatable Sports Day. Each cohort spent forty-five minutes rotating through different sports such as AFL, Netball, Cricket, Basketball and Soccer. At each station they practised a number of skill they had already been exposed to in P.E. It was great to watch the students execute these skills with such confidence, but most important the smiles on their faces and enjoyment was the best part. A big thanks to SEDA for such a well run event.
