Athletics Victoria Track and Field Championships

Congratulations to the six Girton students who competed at the prestigious Athletics Victoria All-Schools Track and Field Championships in late October and early November! Each athlete demonstrated exceptional skill and determination as they showcased their talents at state level.

 

Here’s a breakdown of the outstanding results:

  • Abbey Reid delivered an impressive performance, securing 5th place in the 1,500m with a personal best of 4:43.70. She also finished 5th in the 3,000m with a time of 10:39.81 and claimed 1st place in the 2,000m Steeplechase with a blistering time of 7:18.38.
     
  • Sarah Crowley was a strong contender in the 16-year-old Female 400m, finishing in 7th place with a time of 65.66 seconds. She also ran the 200m heats in 28.21 seconds, narrowly missing out on the final.
     
  • Alicia Crowley placed 7th in her heat for the Female 14-year-old 200m, showing great promise for the future.
     
  • Millie McIntosh placed 16th in the 1,500m with a solid time of 5:29.88.
     
  • Kate Wilson was a standout in the Female 16-year-old High Jump, where she took out 1st place with a jump of 1.55m.
     
  • Lewis McIntosh also showed his talent in the 17-year-old Male 400m, finishing 6th with a time of 50.91 seconds.

A special congratulations to Abbey Reid and Kate Wilson, who have both earned invitations to represent Girton and Victoria at the Australian All-Schools Track and Field Championships in Brisbane this December!

Girton Equestrian Team 

 

"With the Interschools Season now complete for the year, some members of the Girton Equestrian Team have been competing in showjumping at local Ag Shows. 

Congratulations to Francis Wall (Yr 9 Aherne) and his new horse Jorge for placing 1st in the 60cm and older brother Harrison Wall (Yr 11 Aherne) and his horse Red competing their first 90cm at Maldon Ag Show. Congratulations to Caroline Batters (Yr 6 Milward) and her horse Eve placing 1st in the 80cm and 3rd in the 70cm at the Bendigo Ag Show. 

With many Ag Shows still on the calendar, we wish all our Equestrians the best of luck at the upcoming events."
