On Monday, December 9th, 130 very keen students headed down to Mills Beach in Mornington for an action-packed day of activities. It was an incredible opportunity to learn about water safety while having an absolute blast with friends.
A huge thank you to our amazing staff who jumped in and got involved, as well as to our fantastic parent helpers who made the day such a success. Your willingness to step up and assist wherever needed was greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Mimi, Ebony, Sarah, Talia, Jess, Siobhan, Jemha, Natalia, Taylah, and Nate—you were all amazing!
We also extend our gratitude to Kelly, Jacqui, and the fantastic team at the Mornington Lifesaving Club for running a seamless day filled with fun and laughter. Their expertise and enthusiasm made the event unforgettable for everyone involved.
What a great way to round off the year with sun, sand, and smiles! 🌊☀️
Thank You for an Amazing Year in PE!
What a year it has been! I’ve had an absolute ball teaching PE this year. It’s been a massive year packed with incredible events like Athletics, Cross Country, Swimming, Lightning Premiership, Senior and Junior Parish Sports, Olympics Day, Cricket Galas, Hooptime, AFL Girls Day, Netball Boys Day, Basketball Clinics, Cricket Clinics, Footy Day, Swimming Weeks, and finally rounding off with Beach Day.
The students of St. Brendan’s have continually stepped up to participate in these fantastic events, and I couldn’t be prouder of their enthusiasm and achievements. A huge thank you to the countless parent helpers who supported me at various events throughout the year—you’ve been amazing!
I’d also like to extend my gratitude to the dedicated staff at St. Brendan’s. Without their willingness to lend a hand, step in where needed, and take on whatever tasks I’ve thrown their way, these events simply wouldn’t have been possible. A special shout-out goes to our incredible leaders, Bernie Turner and Sue Carr, for always backing me, covering when needed, managing timetables, and allowing me the space to learn and grow without judgment in this new role.
A big thank you as well to our wonderful office team, Louise Street and Wendy Ziino, for their help with buses, notes, and managing inquiries from our parent community—you’ve been instrumental in making everything run smoothly.
It’s been a whirlwind year, and together we’ve accomplished so much. Our incredible Senior year 5/6 cohort brought home six plaques across District events, showcasing their talent and determination.
I extend my greatest congratulations to Talullah Peacock in the role for next year. She is absolutely wonderful teacher and the kids, staff, and community of St. Brendan’s are incredibly lucky to have her leading PE in 2025!
Please find below a recap from our amazing House Leaders with some very insightful quotes from our Year 5/6 team!
2024 PE Recap - Written by Milla M and Evie J
During the sport year, St. Brendan’s kids competed in numerous sporting events. Although they did not win in all of them, they gave it a crack and achieved six plaques in total. Some ⅚ students participated in activities such as soccer, AFL, netball, cricket, and basketball. We came second and first in all of them.
We are so proud and excited—we can't wait for next year and all the fun activities we will compete in! We interviewed some of the Year 5/6 students who participated in these sports, and this is what they said:
Diesel: “I competed in cricket. It was so good, I hit a lot of sixes, and we came won first. I had a lot of fun.”
Milla K: “In the AFL Girls, I played back and forward. It was a lot of fun! We won every game by a lot—it was the funnest time ever!”
Cruz and Archie:
Cruz: “In the boys' netball team, we defeated pretty much all of the schools except one. I played GA and GS. It was extremely fun, and unfortunately we came second .”
Archie: “I played centre and a bit of goal defense. It was a lot of fun!”
Johari: “I played in the boys' soccer team as a defender and striker. I scored 10 goals, and I was the key player of the team. I had a lot of fun.”
Ella: “I played GK and GD. We played really well and won every game. We came first and had a lot of fun throughout all the games.”
Fawn: “I played basketball with the girls' team and had a lot of fun. I am very proud of the one goal I scored. I had a very fun day.”
