Student Laptops for 2025 (Years 3 and Above)

In 2025, all students in Years 3 and above are expected to have an individual laptop at school each day. The below information can also be found on the school website: https://newlandsps.vic.edu.au/parents/#ICT_Accounts

 

Providing a Device for Your Child

Families have three options to provide a laptop for their child. All new laptops will be connected to the school’s services early in Term 1 by the school’s ICT Technician.

ICT Device Options for Years 3–6

1. JB Hi-Fi School Portal

Purchasing through the portal ensures that you acquire the device recommended by Newlands Primary School. The recommended device is reviewed annually and updated as needed.

2. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Families can provide a Windows 10 (or later) device. The school will connect the device to the network in Term 1, but families are responsible for installing all required apps and software.

  • Recommended Features:
    • World-facing camera
    • Stylus
    • Minimum 4GB RAM
    • Minimum 2GHz processor

3. School-Provided Device

For families unable to supply a device, the school will provide a device for use during school hours. Due to limited availability, students may need to share devices for certain tasks, and these devices must remain at school. To request a school-provided device, please email newlands.ps@education.vic.gov.au.
