Dear Members of the Academy Community,
At the time of writing this newsletter, our Year 12 students are undertaking their final examinations and I am pleased to say that all is going smoothly and students are coping well with this stressful period. The end is nigh!
We look forward to formally farewelling our Year 12 students at their Graduation evening scheduled for Tuesday, 26 November. This evening will provide an opportunity for teachers, students and parents alike to acknowledge the strong and dynamic Year 12 class of 2024 and to wish them well in their future endeavours. They have been such a strong and committed group and we will be sad to see them leave the Academy.
Next week a survey will be sent to Year 12 students and their parents seeking feedback on their time at the College. What worked well and was appreciated? What could we do better? Parental and student feedback is encouraged and indeed is essential in order that we be the very best we can be. Our aim, as you know and, as indicated in our Vision and Mission Statement, is “To be a premier learning community” and to “Develop confident, curious and collaborative learners within a safe, supportive and positive learning environment”. Was that your experience? What worked well? How can we improve? Feedback is an essential component of growth.
At the other end of the spectrum, last Tuesday evening our prospective Year 7 students and their parents attended an information evening. There was a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation in the Dillon Centre and it was wonderful to see students gathering together and beginning to form friendships. The younger students were able to meet our two College Leaders, Niamh Cullen and Sienna Komarnycki as they reflected on their time at the Academy and welcomed our newest students. We look forward to the contribution of the Year 7 class of 2025 who, as I informed them, will ultimately be the Year 12 Class of 2030!! It is difficult to believe that the years are moving so swiftly!
The end of the year is fast approaching but there is much to look forward to including the Step Up week for our Senior Students, the end of year Prayer Service and Assembly and the Celebration of Excellence evening.
Every Blessing,
