Little Joey's

It was exciting this week as the Little Joey’s were able to spend some more time at school, staying until after lunch. They were very busy on Tuesday, listening to The Rainbow Bear by Steven Michael King, creating their own rainbow bear, spending some time in their classroom for 2025, playing some maths games, and spending some time with the Grade 5 students (their future buddies).

It will be great next week when the Little Joey’s come for the 2025 whole school transition day, where they can spend time with the 2025 Grade 1 students.

Foundation / Year 1 & 2

Christmas Carols

The F-2 students walked to the Senior Citizens to share some Christmas spirit! The Foundation/Grade 1 students sang two songs and the Grade 2 students sang two songs, then all the junior students sang 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' altogether. A great turn out for audience members to enjoy the Christmas carols too.

Hudson - “I liked it because I liked the songs, we sang Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer”

Molly - “It was good because of the songs, they were nice”

Starley - “The Christmas carols were lovely”

Market Day

On Monday, the F-2 students had the opportunity to enjoy looking around the Year 5 and 6 students' stalls from their Inquiry unit Bizarre Bazaar. The pavilion was buzzing with excitement, the junior students thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the amazing items the seniors had created. All proceeds made from the stalls will be donated to St Vincent DePaul. Congratulations senior students, we are so very proud of the effort that went into each of your stalls.

Jack - “It was good because I liked it, it was the best! I brought pet rock”

Cruz - “It was fun because we got to buy lots of good toys like the stress balls and ice cream with small marshmallows”

Adelyn - “It was fun to buy stuff because if you spend money it goes to others”

Year 3/4

With the Advent season beginning this week the students have been learning all about the characters in the Bible story in preparation for the creation of a class Jesse Tree, and creating a slideshow representing each person's traits and a symbol representing them.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Maryanne Lovering into the 3/4 CS class. She shared her passion and deep knowledge about the Christmas Story and Nativity to help prepare for our school’s Christmas Tree creation, which will be part of the Community Display this Friday. While narrating the story, Maryanne actively engaged the students, guiding them in re-enacting the roles of the Bible characters and contributing to the creation of art pieces. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Maryanne for dedicating her time to share such an important and meaningful story with us.

Year 5/6

Inquiry Unit

Our Grade 5/6 Market Day was an incredible success! The students had a fantastic time designing, creating, and promoting their products, and it was amazing to see all their hard work come to life on the big day. Together, we raised an impressive $1,220.50 for St. Vincent de Paul, which is a remarkable achievement. A huge thank you to all the families for their support – this event wouldn’t have been possible without you!

Writing

Students have started working on their literary narrative writing. A literary narrative combines facts from their research (focused on dragons) with engaging storytelling to create imaginative texts. The planning stages are underway, and we are excited to see their final pieces. Some students have even incorporated "The Jabberwocky," drawing inspiration from their previous writing to enrich their current work. We can't wait to share these creative stories with you!

Religion

How is Christmas celebrated in other countries? This is the exciting question students have been exploring through their research. Over the coming weeks, they will continue research into the beautiful traditions and customs from around the world. They are learning so much and will share their discoveries by presenting their information to the class. We can’t wait to see what they uncover!
