Grade 3-6- Spring Sports 2025

On Friday 24th October, the 11 students in Grade 3-6 ventured just down the road to the Bridgewater Recreation Reserve to participate in the annual Spring Sports carnival with students from Marong PS, Lockwood South PS and Inglewood PS. Students chose from sports such as netball, football, soccer and multi-sports and socialised with peers from the local schools to enjoy a fun day out. It was terrific to see great leadership, sportsmanship and initiative in our St Mary's students- Mrs Bannan was so proud of the way everyone conducted themselves and represented our school in such a positive manner with many of the teachers from other schools commenting on how well-mannered and kind our students were. A big thanks to Mr Stephenson too who was a great help setting up the activities and encouraging students. Well done to all of the participants!

Foundation - Grade 2 Inquiry

This term we, have been learning about different types of Digital Technology and how they can help us throughout our lives. Students worked in partners and selected a digital device of their own choice and created a version of it. Students then presented their devices to the rest of the class, where they explained the hardware that we can see, such as wires, controllers and buttons. They also explained the software that our devices use, such as applications and Television Shows.

Great work, Foundation - Grade 2 students!

Grade 3-6 Inquiry- By Olivia Morrison

In Inquiry, the Grade 3 - 6 students have been learning about healthy eating in preparation for the upcoming Energy Breakthrough event. We have been learning about the 5 food groups, what a balanced plate looks like and what macronutrients are (carbohydrates, fats and protein). We created our own balanced plates, discussed the foods we chose and what fraction of our plate these foods should take up.

A Balanced Plate:

We have learnt that in most main meals ¼ of your plate should be made up of protein and some dairy products, another ¼  should be made up of grains and the remaining ½  should be made up of all types of fruits and vegetables. A balanced diet should include a variety of foods from each of the groups to ensure adequate nutrients for growth and development.

Science with Mr O

Our Foundation to Year 2 students have been investigating forces and how wind can make objects move. They conducted experiments with a small windmill, testing it with a gentle breath from their mouths and then with a stronger force from a fan. Students carefully recorded their observations and results, comparing how different amounts of force affected the windmill’s movement. This hands-on activity helped students explore scientific concepts in anengaging way, while developing their skills in observation, recording, and analysis.
