Mrs Bannan
We share with mixed emotions that Mrs Carly Bannan will be leaving St Mary’s at the end of this year to take up a full-time classroom teaching position at St Augustine’s in Maryborough. This is a wonderful opportunity for Carly to continue developing her career and to share her talents and passion with a new school community.
During her time at St Mary’s, Carly has made a lasting impact on our students and staff. Her warmth, creativity and dedication have enriched so many aspects of school life. Carly’s love of art and music has brought great joy to our classrooms, inspiring creativity and confidence in our learners. Her genuine care and enthusiasm for supporting students through the MHiPS program have also been deeply appreciated by our community.
We thank Carly for her many contributions and the positive energy she has brought to our school. She will be missed, but we are excited for the next chapter in her teaching journey at St Augustine’s.
We are currently working through the recruitment process to appoint a new staff member to the MHiPS role for 2026 and will share further information once this process is complete.
Home reading
As a school, we are asking for families to please check in with their child/ren to make sure reading at home is done at least 5 nights a week, their diary is filled in with page numbers read and that diaries are brought into school each day. Students in Grade 3-6 are responsible for filling in their own diaries and students in Foundation-Grade 2 are encouraged to read to a family member and have assistance with recording the reading into their diary. Thanks for your ongoing support with this.

PAM Access
Due to an unsuccessful attempted security breach last weekend, access to PAM for all parents has currently been disabled.
We have been advised by the SIMON team that
- They will continue to provide updates on the restoration of PAM applications.
- All schools are to ensure that PAM remain offline until we can provide further guidance on reinstatement of these services.
- This incident is not a data breach – from our investigation to date, there is no evidence that any user data on the platform has been affected, nor that other systems are involved.
At this stage SIMON Schools do not anticipate PAM access being reinstated before Monday 10th November.
If you are needing to advise of an absence or late arrival or needing to provide consent for a school activity please email admin@sminglewood.catholic.edu.au. Alternatively you can call the office 03 5438 3075. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
