We hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing break. We’re excited to welcome everyone back for Term 4 — a busy and fun-filled term to finish off the year! We have lots to look forward to, including Footsteps Dance, a class excursion, some exciting science experiments, and of course, all the festivities leading up to Christmas.
This term, we are focusing on building independence to help our Grade 1 students get ready for Grade 2. We encourage families to support this by helping children take responsibility for their daily routines — such as carrying their own school bags to and from school and packing their blue folders each morning. These small steps help students develop confidence, responsibility, and readiness for the year ahead.

This term, our Science and Inquiry focus will be on water. Students will explore its properties, uses, and importance through a range of hands-on investigations. To support our planned activities, we ask that each student brings a shoebox and a 300–500ml glass jar with a secure lid. These items will be essential for our experiments and projects.
This term in Visual Art students will be focusing on textiles and learning basic sewing skills. If you are willing, able and have a valid Working With Children's card, Mrs Jones and Mrs Simpson would love your help in assisting with threading needles for the children during their weekly art lesson in Weeks 4 (beginning 27th October) and 5 (beginning 3rd November). If you would like to help, please email (via Compass) Mrs Jones if your child is in 1NF, 1CQ or 1MF or Mrs Simpson if your child is in 1NL.
1NF Monday 12.30- 1.10
1CQ Wednesday 2.10-2.50
1MF Wednesday 2.50-3.30
1NL Thursday 2.10-2.50
As the weather warms up, a friendly reminder that in Term 4 all students are required to wear hats as part of our school’s SunSmart policy. Please ensure hats and all uniform items are clearly named so that lost property can be returned promptly.
We are excited to announce that the Footsteps Dance Program will be commencing in Week 4, on Wednesday 29th October, and will run for 5 weeks every Wednesday morning. This engaging program is part of our school’s Physical Education (PE) curriculum and provides students with a fun way to develop coordination, rhythm, and confidence through dance. Payment and permission are due no later than Tuesday 21st October 2025. We can’t wait to see our students moving and grooving!
As we begin planning for 2026, we will soon start looking at grade placements for next year. To help us with this process, please let us know if your child will not be returning to Vermont Primary School in 2026.
This information is very helpful, as we want to ensure that all students are considered when classes are organised and that no one misses out on choosing a friend for next year.
Thank you for your support and for helping us with our planning.
We are seeking parent volunteers to assist with our upcoming CERES Excursion on Friday, 21st November. This exciting excursion will give students the opportunity to explore water ecosystems and learn about the vital role water plays in all ecosystems through a range of hands-on activities. To volunteer, parents must hold a current Working With Children Check and email their child’s classroom teacher to express their interest. Please note that payment for the excursion will be available on Compass next week.
Over the past two weeks that Year 1s have been creative making parrots using cardboard, paper and feathers. Check out some of the amazing artwork!

Today, all of the students went to the Library and had an early preview of the amazing books, posters and knick-knacks for sale at the annual Book Fair. An email was sent out to all families with the details of how and when to purchase items from the stock available. It is attached again here for your convenience.
