Welcome to the first issue of our newsletter for Term 4! It's incredible to think that we are this far through the year already and that it is only 10 weeks until Christmas! We have a super busy term ahead of us with lots of learning and fun in store for students, as well as preparing for the 2026 school year.
We are very excited to share that we have started to move with some pace through the process of commencing the master planning for the redevelopment and upgrading of our North and South Buildings. We have engaged Tectura as the architects, and they are at the beginning stage of working with our school to understand our context and vision for the future. We are looking forward to the process and to see what things are in store for the VPS community!
Some families I have spoken to about the upgrades have wondered about how the school will operate during a potential period of renovation and demolition, and when that might commence. The short answer is - we don't know when it will start, or what will happen when the classrooms are being demolished/renovated. We work closely with the architects and the VSBA (Victorian School Building Authority) to manage the process when it starts.
We are looking forward to our Christmas Carols on Wednesday December 3 this year, which will not only be the wonderful celebration of Christmas that we have enjoyed over the past few years, but a great chance for the community to experience our very first Christmas Craft Market. We have Food Trucks, Face Painting, Coffee and arts and crafts for families to enjoy at the conclusion of the carols event. We are still welcoming expressions of interest from stall holders, so if you or someone you know is keen to hold a stall at the market, please use this link to let us know! https://forms.office.com/r/m7ttdaftsk

As we are moving closer to the end of 2025, we are turning our sights on preparations for 2026. Each year, parents are given the opportunity to make a request for consideration in regard to their child's placement. Please note, this is a request only, and must relate to the social and emotional wellbeing of your child. It is not an opportunity to request a specific teacher. All teachers cater for the academic needs of each child, and we have the utmost confidence that all the staff here at Vermont Primary School will provide quality teaching and learning opportunities. Enormous time and effort goes into the placement of students, and our teachers know their students well enough to make the best choice for them in terms of their grade placement for the coming year.
If you would like to submit a request for consideration, please do so to the year level leader of your child's current year level no later than Friday October 31 (two weeks from now)
