Week 1 Update

Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term 4! It’s been a very positive start to the term, and it’s wonderful to see students returning with energy and enthusiasm for the busy and exciting weeks ahead. We’re looking forward to many positive experiences together as we head toward the end of the school year.

This short update is an additional newsletter to share some timely information with you. Our regular school newsletter will be published next Thursday.

Please take a moment to read the details below regarding:

Second Hand Uniform Stall – This Afternoon

Our Second Hand Uniform Stall will be held this afternoon from 3:00pm on the deck.

There are plenty of summer uniform items available, all priced at $5 per item. It’s a great opportunity to stock up as we head into the warmer months.

A big thank you to Emily Hawkes for coordinating the stall and to our Parents and Friends team for their ongoing support of our school community.

Colour Run – Friday 23rd October

We’re very excited for our much-anticipated Colour Run on Friday 23rd October — a special fundraiser in support of the Stevens family. This event promises to be a fantastic celebration for our school community and a fun way for students to get active for a great cause.

In the lead-up, we’ve had some great competitions and prizes, including:

  • 5/6O winning icy poles 🍦
  • 1/2VM winning a pizza party 🍕
  • A $500 prize credit competition 💰
  • A colouring competition 🎨
  • And some exciting upcoming sliming events! 💦

More details will be shared in next week’s newsletter, but for now please note that students will need to wear all white to school on Friday 23rd October — nothing expensive or new, as everything will be covered in colour!

We’ve linked a short video below so you can see what the Colour Run will look like.

If you’d like to help out on the day (and have a Working With Children Check), please let me know — we’d love your support!

What are we fundraising for?

Help Support Jake, Carli, Levi & Louie After a Life-Changing Injury

Recently, Jake suffered a catastrophic aortic dissection, leading to multiple emergency surgeries and permanent spinal cord damage. Leaving him paralysed from the chest down.

After a week in ICU and a series of life-saving procedures, Jake has defied the odds and is now beginning a long and uncertain road to recovery. Through it all, Carli has been by his side, while also supporting their boys, who are adjusting to a new and unexpected reality.

While the NDIS will provide long-term support, there are many urgent short-term needs that fall outside of that—travel costs, time off work, temporary care, and day-to-day household pressures that can’t wait.

Jake has always been the first to show up—for his mates, his family, and his community. Now it’s our turn to show up for him. The long road ahead will look less bumpy if we can take away just one of these pressures, it would mean the world.

If you’re able to support this event it would mean the world to them.

Mission Stalls – October Recess Events

Throughout October, our students will be taking part in Mission Stalls (a long standing tradition at St Patrick's) during three recess breaks. These events are a fun and meaningful way for students to work together, practice sustainability, and raise funds to support those in need.

This year’s theme is “The Season of Creation”, with a focus on sustainability. Students have been reminded not to purchase new items or products for their stalls and to instead consider reusing or reselling items no longer needed at home. Please note that this will be a lolly and sugar-free event – no food items will be sold.

Each House will take turns running the stalls:

  • Green House – Wednesday, 15th October
  • Gold House – Tuesday, 21st October
  • Red House – Wednesday, 29th October

Students are encouraged to bring along a few silver coins (10–50 cents) to join in games or purchase second-hand items.

When it is their House’s turn, students may choose to:

  • Set up and run a stall on their own or with friends/family members in their House.
  • Sell pre-loved items such as books, toys, or clothes in excellent condition (no new items should be purchased for sale or as prizes).
  • Create a fun activity such as a game, mini dance party, or story-reading station.

All funds raised will go towards helping those in need - a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about generosity and community action.

SunSmart Expectations

As the weather warms up, a reminder that all students are required to wear a school hat for all outdoor activities in line with our SunSmart policy.

Please take a moment to check that your child’s hat is clearly labelled with their name to help avoid mix-ups and ensure everyone is sun safe throughout the term.

Parents and Friends Meeting

A reminder that our next Parents and Friends meeting will be held next Monday at 7:00pm at the Western Hotel.

All parents are most welcome to come along and be part of the group. There are some great events coming up this term, and your support and involvement are always greatly appreciated.

Student-Free Days

A reminder that there will be no school on Monday 3rd November and Tuesday 4th November. We hope all families enjoy the extra-long weekend.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.

Kind regards,

Ben Shields
