Principals' Weekly Update

Dear Armadale Community,
Hoping you are all well and managing with the windy conditions and increases in hayfever, coughing, sneezes and itchy eyes. With the warmer conditions, please remember to ensure chldren have had sunscreen applied in the mornings and they all have their hats with them for anytime they are outside.
Body Safety sessions have started at school with the children in Years 3 - 6 and next week the program starts with the children Prep - Year 2. The children have enjoyed participating in the sessions and contributing to the discussions. Thank you to those parents who were able to join online for the parent workshops and we do have copies of the presentations if any parents would like to access these. Please just send us an email.
Year 5/6 excursion tommorow
The Year 5/6's will be heading off to the Melbourne Museum tomorrow as they explore The Big Idea (or provocation) on History and Geography:
Australia’s identity is shaped by its location, key historical events and changing population over time.
The children will all have a booklet to research whilst they are viewing several exhibitions - Our Shared History and Patterns of Change: Melbourne Over Time, as well as a visit to the Milarri Garden. These experiences will give students the chance to explore the perspectives of Aboriginal peoples and early settlers, and to see how migration, environment and culture have influenced life in Victoria. By tracing changes in Melbourne across time, students will make direct connections to how people, places and events have shaped Australia’s identity and continue to influence how we live today.
We hope you all have a fabulous time at the Museum and can't wait to hear what you discovered and learnt.
First Prep Transition Session
We are excited to welcome our new Prep Cohort to our first transition session tomorrow morning as they start to begin their educational journey at school. The Prep team have already come to know the new cohort well through all the kinder visits, or having taught their siblings, as well as hosting the kinder teachers at our school and in our classrooms.
Transition offers our Prep families reassurance and an opportunity to connect with other parents and start to make new friendships.
Monday 3rd November (the day before Cup Day) is a Curriculum Day.
Monday November 3rd is a Curriculum day and children are not required at school. Team Kids are running a Curriculum day program if children require care. The teachers will be taking the day to strenghten their professional practice. We hope our community can take advantage of this long weekend opportunity to spend time together.
