PLENTY HAPPENING AT THE NCTTC!

It has been very busy at the NCTTC with students learning in a wide range of settings over the past few weeks.

Our VET Community Services class has been out in the community assisting with Meals on Wheels.

Last week, VET Sport, Aquatics and Recreation students organised a very popular obstacle course for our students to navigate at lunchtime as part of the Mental Health Month activities. This week they venture to Boort to assist with the Calder Cricket Blast.

The VET Animal Care class recently completed presentations at St. Joseph’s PS as part of their unit ‘Prepare and present information to the public’. This Thursday they host the Charlton Playgroup for a visit and no doubt the farm and animals will be a highlight for all!

Last term, the VET Beauty Services and Salon Assistant classes hosted Client Days; inviting the public to engage in beauty and hair appointments. Our Salon Assistant class will continue to take bookings for this Thursday 23rd and next Thursday 30th October. We would encourage you to call the school office if you would like to book a time to pamper yourself with a hair wash, head massage and blow wave!

Our VET Allied Health students are undertaking Structured Workplace Learning, and Mary-Ann Sait and I look forward to visiting the students at their respective workplaces over the next three weeks. This will take see us travel to Boort, Charlton, St. Arnaud, Donald and Inglewood. I look forward to sharing some photos from our visits.

Late last term the VET Cookery class completed their ‘Prepare and present sandwiches’ unit, selling amazing gourmet sandwiches to staff from their ‘Cookery Café’. Currently they are undertaking the unit ‘Produce cakes’. Staff have been fortunate to taste test some of their delicious products while they enjoy a coffee and chat at recess.

Aside from all of the above, staff and students have been working really hard to finalise Units of Competency, as the November deadline is fast approaching. Students undertaking scored assessments are revising content as exams are just around the corner! We wish them all the best over the next few weeks.
