Classroom Teams News

Foundation News:

Our Prep students have settled beautifully into school life. They’re learning classroom routines with confidence, building friendships, and showing real pride in becoming part of our school community. Our mornings now begin with a Morning Circle at 8:50am, which helps students feel calm, connected, and ready for a successful day of learning.

Over the next two Wednesdays, we’ll continue our Prep interviews. These sessions give us valuable insight into each child and their family, helping us better understand how to support their learning and wellbeing throughout the year. We appreciate your time and partnership as we get to know our newest learners.

Grade 1:

This year we have four Grade 1 classes. Our classrooms are in the Gallery.

Room 1 Ms Santosh 1A

Room 2 Mrs Miller 1M

Room 3 Mrs Pitts 1P

Room 4 Miss Shehata 1S

The students have made a sensational start to the school year. We are revising our positive school-wide behaviours and setting up appropriate learning routines so that we are set for a fabulous year. The students know how to ‘Be a Learner, Be Respectful and Be Safe’ both in the classroom and in the playground. Many of the students have already been awarded Dojo points for displaying these behaviours independently.

Thank you to all of the lovely families that came to visit us last week for the 'Meet the Teacher BBQ' or reached out on Class Dojo. It was lovely to chat with you all and share all of the wonderful things your children have been doing at school. We are looking forward to sharing your child's learning journey this year.

Grade 2:

This year, the Grade 2 team consists of four classes:

2K - Miss Kercheval

2S - Miss Kopsidas

The students have made a great start to the school year. We have been revising our School Expectations "Be Safe", "Be a Learner" and "Be Respectful" and setting up our classroom routines to ensure all students are set up for an awesome year.

Thank you to all the families who came in for our 'Meet the Teacher BBQ', it was great to meet all of you and welcome you into our classrooms.

We all look forward to working with you all this year and to be apart of your child's learning journey.

Grade 3:

Our school's "Meet the teacher" Bbq was a lovely opportunity for parents to meet the teachers and the students were very excited and proud to show their families their classroom. The first 3 weeks of school have been a smooth transition for our students back into learning and we can't wait to be a part of their learning journey.

Grade 4:

We are delighted to be beginning the new school year together as a team — Miss Websdale, Miss Suppa and Mr Duncan. We are especially pleased to welcome Mr Duncan to our school community and are excited about the positive contribution he will bring to our team.

We have been busy with lots of engaging learning throughout the last few weeks. In English, we have been exploring Greek myths, discovering powerful gods, daring heroes and mythical creatures, while identifying the key features that make these stories so memorable. In Maths, we have been revising addition and subtraction, focusing on written methods, mental strategies and checking our answers carefully to build confidence and accuracy. In ZONES and respectful Relationships, we have been learning about our emotions, discussing how we might feel during different events and understanding how our feelings can influence our actions.

Violet and her paragraph on "Theseus & the Minotaur". She was very proud of her effort and demonstrated the value of "Be A Learner", and the wonderful work of 4W and their "All About Me" information reports.

We have had a great start to the year and we are looking forward to supporting, encouraging and inspiring your children throughout another exciting year of learning ahead.

Grade 5/6:

The 5/6 team has made a fantastic start to the term, with students settling in quickly and forming strong new routines with their classroom teachers and classmates. There has been a real sense of enthusiasm and maturity across the senior school, which has been wonderful to see. We have jumped headfirst into 5/6 Sport, which begins in Week 3, and our senior students are looking forward to competing in Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, Softball and Cricket against a range of local primary schools.

Many students are also busily preparing their applications for student leadership roles at P.H.P.S., including House Captain, P.E. Captain, Artlan Captain, Performing Arts Captain, S.T.E.M. Captain, Library Captain, Koorie Captain, Environmental Captain and Office Captain. We wish all applicants the very best in this process.

The senior team look forward to a productive and rewarding year ahead, and we're already buoyed by such a positive start to the school year.
