Welcome Back!

Welcome back everyone, to what is sure to be another fantastic and jam-packed year at Beaufort Secondary College. It has been pleasing to see everyone quickly settling back into the routines, engaging with their learning, and enjoying catching up with each other after the summer break.
For Term One Mr Schier shall be taking a well-deserved break. He will be spending time travelling in Asia with Ms Moore (who retired at the end of last year) and their daughter Gypsy, before she starts university. Mr Schier and Ms Moore will then continue their adventures by travelling across Europe. I am sure you join me in wishing them well in their travels and look forward to the tales and photos on Mr Schier’s return.
In Mr Schier’s absence, I shall have the pleasure of serving the school community in the role of Acting Principal. Many of you shall have met me last year, when I joined the leadership team, and quickly felt a sense of belonging in our very supportive and special school community.
Last week we welcomed a group of new staff, who have been quickly integrating into the school. Mrs Simone Reid is returning to the profession after having a break to raise her family, she will be joining our English and Humanities team. Ms Jessica Revell transfers to us from Ararat Secondary College and will be teaching Science. Ms Kerrie Brunt, who worked here last year as a Casual Relief Teacher, has transferred from Phoenix P-12 Community College. She comes to us with extensive experience in teaching English. Ms Leah Giovannello and Mr Declan Jones who are both studying teaching and will be joining our Education Support staff. Finally, Ms Issy McLinden was keen to start her teaching journey here after working previously as part of our Education Support team. She will be teaching English and First Nations.
This week it was the turn of new students to be welcomed. On Monday we had our first whole school assembly where we formally welcomed our Year Sevens and new students to our school community. Students were encouraged to fully engage with their learning and take on the wealth of opportunities on offer here at Beaufort Secondary College.
Then, we acknowledged our Year Twelve students as they embark on their final year of secondary education. The Year Twelves were encouraged to set aspirational goals and work towards them by wisely using their time and accessing supports and the help of staff, friends and family.
We look forward to welcoming our new families into the Beaufort Secondary Community through a Welcome BBQ on Wednesday 11th February, please save the date.
We are very proud of the learning culture that has been created at Beaufort Secondary College that as a community we have worked hard to create. Our culture is underpinned by our school values of Respectful Relationships, High Expectations and Excellence. Staff explicitly teach and role model behaviours to ensure that all learners’ attitudes and actions continue to align with our values and beliefs. We thank you for working in partnership with us to support our learning culture.
We look forward to working with you to ensure all learners have a successful, engaging and
enjoyable 2026 school year.
Mrs Kirstie Thomson
